remember the game, shadow, we used to play when we were annoying middle school kids trying to get attention. you would repeat whatever your friend was saying until they couldn't handle it anymore and just stopped talking or in most cases screamed at you to stop.
well, i think joshua has caught onto the game and is not telling anyone. he seems to be repeating anything everything we are saying which is forcing us to be more cautious of what we say around our copycat.
the other day when we were leaving the pagala's home i said, "peace out!" to jay and jenn. not even a second later joshua says every so slowly as to get the pronunciation correct, "peace... ouut!" i couldn't stop cracking up!
some other new words and phrases that joshua has picked up are:
check it out!
cool
awwwsome.
weeen transalation halloween
tinkerbell
pillowdough transalation playdough
wrong side
crazy!
keep trying
there are so many others that i cannot remember right this minute.
i remember i time when i was worried about joshua not talking early but really i had nothing to worry about. i just had to be a little more patient and remember that joshua like most children do things in their own time.
we are sitting together right now and he has happily sculpting, rolling, ripping, poking, and smashing his playdough with his hands. i cannot believe that he is becoming such a big boy. can i just bottle up this time with him and save it for when he is so big he doesn't want to hang out with me? i'll save it for this blog instead.

daredevil.
tyty is quite the little adventure seeker. here i am watching him climb into his brother's recliner from ikea. its just small enough that he can climb into it but big enough that he has a hard time trying to get out of it. currently he is sitting in the chair creating a diamond with his legs out in front of him, holding his toes and laughing at me in that way that lets me know he is up to no good.
wait... he just changed position. now he is slumped down in the chair... kinda like julia stiles was in save the last dance when sean patrick harris was trying to teach her how to sit like a bad ass. this is classic. ok.... i think now he is attempting to get out of the chair. tyty throws both his legs to his left side and his torso soon follows, he is on his belly now, and he is sliding off the chair ever so gently. and he both feet had toucher the floor!! first sucessful attempt! yay for tyty! (glad you could be here with me for that one!)
his usual (funnier) way to get out of the chair is to lean forward in the diamond position. it often looks like he is going to hit the floor head first. but then he will have enough sense to reverse himself so that he is sitting in the diamond position facing the back of the chair. he carefully pulls one leg out from under him and attempts to place it on the ground but because the chair is a little too big for him he can barely feel the floor! it's really so cute! you need to see the caution on his face. when he finally touches the floor he has this look of relief and he almost sighs.
so by this time tyty is face down, one leg reaching down to the floor, while one leg is still stuck under his body weight. once his left leg is reaching down he attempts to pull his right leg from underneath himself... but the poor thing just cannot seem to get it out from underneath his body weight. he tries and tries but to no avail. usually he will pull himself up and rest for a bit and try again. other times, he will look at someone with those big beautiful eyes of his and work his magic on them. then they just lift him up out of the chair to freedom!

breakfast
it's thursday morning. tyler is sitting in his high chair, joshua is in the seat to the left of tyty , i standing to the left of joshua. we are all sitting down to enjoy breakfast together. tyler has kix scattered all over his tray, joshua is shoveling heaping spoonfuls of kix and milk into his mouth, and i watch and enjoy my bowl of cereal. these mornings, i cannot help but think about how big the boys are getting, how capable they are becoming and how much i love them.
tyler interrupts my thoughts with his laughter. he is thrashing his arms about, and babbling away. he is punching the air with his two fistfulls of kix. joshua turns to tyty, waves index finger at him and tells him "no!" i remind joshua that tyty is just trying to talk to us. joshua turns his attention back to his cereal then looks up at tyty. tyler's arms is extended towards joshua and in tyler's hands are kix. it looks like he is offering joshua his cereal. joshua once again waves his index finger at tyler, answers "no. own. milk." he proceeds to spoon a large amount of cereal into his mouth. i believe he was saying to tyler, "no. i have my own cereal with milk."
i live for these moments.

"ood night."
while putting joshua to bed last night, i said to him "i love you, joshua." without skipping a beat, he turns and says, "ood night."
he seems to associate "i love you" with "good night." even when it isn't night time and i say those three words, he still replies "ood night." i wonder why he associates those two words. i am almost positive i tell him i love him during the day as well. i try to get him to say "i love you." but i think he is so genuine when he replies in his own unique way. it's like he put his own twist on "i love you" like we have a secret language that noone really understands but us. it's kinda nice to share that with him. i wonder how long we will be able to share this secret language? i know it might not be forever, so i'll cherish it while i can.
sigh. they are growing up so fast.
tyty is growing so much cause he is eatting like a monster. the other day i fed him two 2 oz containers of homemade baby food. he housed it. ryan, joshua and i hadn't eaten dinner yet. so when we sat down to eat, tyty ate a bit as well. he had a few noodles from our lo mein, a few small pieces of chicken, and half a fortune cookie. then right before bedtime, he downed 4 oz of milk-- he probably could have had more but i limited it. i was scared the kid would yack. this boy can eat! :D i pray he continues to have a voracious apetite.

why bottle up moments?
Everyday I think to myself, "I wish I could bottle up these memories of my boys so I can take them out at my liesure and enjoy them." I've also been telling a few friends that I wanted to start a blog to help me remember the crazy things my little monsters do or say. So this is my attempt to "bottle up the moments" with my boys...
On my way home last night from school, I stopped by Bank Street College Book Store and picked up a few things for Joshua and Tylertyler. For Joshua I picked up a Toolbox Matching Game, the books Hands Are Not For Hitting and Backyard Bird Watching. For TylerTyler, I picked up Animal Farms Touch and Feel book. Before bedtime, I told Joshua I had a game I wanted to play with him. As soon as he heard the word game, he started jumping up and down shrieking "Game, game, game!" I told him I had to get ready for bed then we could play... this boy followed me into the bathroom and watched me do my nighttime routine of brushing my teeth and washing my face and then grabbed my hand and said, "Done, mom? Game, game game!"
He dragged me into our bedroom, where he has been sleeping on the floor and was so excited. The game consists of 12 pairs of cards (12 different tools). I started out small and pulled out 4 pairs of cards. I placed them in front of him after reviewing the names of each tool with him once. Then I simply asked him to give me the hammer and then give me its matching card and he did it. All four times successfully!! I added two more pairs and he did it again. After eveytime he would clap. Jump up and down and say "Yesh! YEsh!" He was so proud of himself! I was so proud of him. He has the memory of an elepant. It is so amazing to see how capable he is now. He's no longer a baby.
No longer a baby.... Tylertyler is no longer a baby! He is such a capable little boy and always willing to go and tackle something on his own. His appetite is amazing. The boy can eat. Today he had two two ounce containers of food then he enjoyed some chinese food with Ryan, Joshua and me. He may be training to be the next competitive eater.
Today, TylerTyler and I were reading a book and he just kept on pointing, laughing and trying to close the book. As I read, he was babbling in his own little way and I just kept on smiling and laughing. Tyler doesn't often get moments alone with me. So, when we can sneak in those little moments of alone time I savor them so much. I hope he feels how much he is loved.
